4WD suspension is not a simple affair and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. It is exceedingly difficult for OEMs to build a single suspension system that suits everyone’s needs. Instead, they build a one size fits all suspension system. Unlike numerous aftermarket suspension systems, which are only available in a single configuration targeting lift height, Old Man Emu offers a range of tuned and matched integrated suspension systems to ensure the right suspension is available to suit how the vehicle is outfitted and the conditions it will encounter.
Old Man Emu suspension systems are designed to enhance ride quality, ride control, load-carrying capacity, and ride height. When building an off-road vehicle, it’s best to notate the heavy parts that you plan to add. Heavy components will slowly begin to compress your suspension which results in vehicle sag. In order to avoid ride discomfort and having to change components down the road, plan ahead for future additions. This saves you time and money changing suspension down the road. We recommend that daily drivers consider only constant load while strictly off-road vehicles can consider both constant and gear load.
Old Man Emu suspension systems have been developed for the Ford Bronco and come in different kits depending on the vehicle model or trim level and are available for various load configurations as outlined below.
Light/Light Load: Suitable for vehicles with no constant added weight front or rear
Medium/Light Load: Suitable for vehicles with a front bumper OR winch with no added constant weight in the rear
Medium/Medium Load: Suitable for vehicles with a front bumper OR winch with up to 330 lbs constant weight added in the rear
Heavy/Medium Load: Suitable for vehicles with a front bumper AND winch with up to 330 lbs constant weight added in the rear
Heavy/Heavy Load: Suitable for vehicles with a front bumper AND winch with up to 660 lbs constant weight added in the rear
All models except for ones with the Sasquatch trim level will get approximately 2″ lift. Sasquatch models will get approximately .75″ lift.
Anti-sway bar notation: moderate to heavily loaded Broncos should be fitted with the OMESTAB10 bar.
It is not needed with the Sasquatch package (including Wildtrack) as all are OE supplied with a heavier bar
