Meet the ARB Earth Camper: Australia’s Elite Off-Road Trailer Comes to North America

Earth Camper (5)

Developed and proven in Australia for off-grid exploration and long-distance travel, the ARB Earth Camper is now available for our North American market.

The Earth Camper was built for remote travel, uneven terrain, and the kind of trail access that most travel trailers cannot handle. What makes it stand out is the combination of trail capability and practical camp comfort within a compact footprint that can be towed behind many modern 4x4 vehicles.

One of the most notable features is how the camper transitions from tow mode to camp mode. Once deployed, the rear of the Earth Camper opens into a sheltered living area with standing room and a hard-floor platform, creating a sheltered transition space that makes daily use at camp more comfortable and practical.

The Earth Camper combines serious off-road capability with everyday comfort at camp. A welded exoskeleton chassis, OME Nitrocharger suspension, and off-grid electrical and water systems make remote travel possible, and the built-in kitchen, sleeping area, and storage add the convenience that’s often missing in compact off-road trailers.

For travelers who want to explore the most remote trails and remain self-sufficient without compromising comfort, the Earth Camper is the solution.

Designed for Real Off-Road Travel

Earth Camper (4)

With the Earth Camper’s structure, the focus was chassis strength, suspension control, underbody protection, and the ability to service key components on the trail if needed.

Patented Exoskeleton Chassis

The Earth Camper uses a one-piece welded exoskeleton chassis instead of a traditional box frame. The structure forms a rigid cage around the camper body, controlling torsional movement and lowering the center of gravity for better towing on uneven terrain. The chassis is built from 3.5-inch cylindrical steel tubing with 1/8-inch wall thickness, then automotive e-coated inside and out and finished with a polyurethane topcoat for corrosion resistance. Four welded jacking points are integrated into the chassis so wheels or suspension can be serviced without relying on a workshop floor.

The camper body is constructed from 100% wood-free Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP). This keeps weight down and avoids the swelling, rot, and vibration-related failures that can occur in wood-framed campers after repeated off-road use. The overall approach favors structural integrity over seasonal camping, focusing on long-term durability across varied terrain.

Climate, Ventilation & Body Construction

To support year-round use, the Earth Camper incorporates insulation and ventilation into the body design.

The walls and roof use 1-inch foam-core insulation, and the bulkhead uses 1.25-inch cladded foam to help regulate cabin temperature in both hot and cold conditions. Ventilation is handled through side windows with two-stage openings, blackout curtains, flyscreens, dual fans, and a dust suppression system with serviceable filters for dry environments.

The result is a camper that remains comfortable across different climates and regions, from hot desert travel to colder northern environments.

Suspension & Wheel Package

To deliver the control required for off-road towing, the Earth Camper utilizes a 35" extra-long trailing arm paired with vertically oriented OME Nitrocharger shock absorbers.

The combination of a longer trailing arm and vertically mounted OME shocks allows the suspension to stay controlled and predictable when towing off-road. The longer trailing arm increases wheel travel and helps the tires stay in contact with the ground when crossing washouts, rocks, or off-camber surfaces. And mounting the OME shocks vertically gives them direct input from the axle, so damping isn’t compromised by awkward geometry.

The wheels and tires are part of the package as well. Special ARB “EC” edition alloy wheels (16 × 5.5, +20 offset) come wrapped in Maxxis Razr All-Terrain 265/75R16 tires. A matching spare is included. The braking and hub components use Dexter 12-inch electric brakes and Timken bearings, which are familiar to people who have serviced trailers before. Because ARB chose industry-standard sizing for many hard parts, it is easier to find replacements during longer trips.

Off-Road Protection & Underbody Armor

Protection is a critical part of any off-road vehicle, and it was a major focus when designing the Earth Camper. The frame and body needed to be durable, but the underside also had to withstand trail use without snagging or taking unnecessary damage.

To address this, the Earth Camper uses stone shielding to protect key components from rocks and debris thrown from the tow vehicle. Underslung mud flaps and ARB mudflaps help manage debris spray, and the under-vehicle protection panels are replaceable for long-term durability. This setup helps prevent damage to any exposed components.

Compact Footprint, Spacious Living

Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the Earth Camper expands into a comfortable living space. Through intelligent packaging and purpose-driven design, ARB created a camper that stays lightweight and streamlined on the trail, but opens up to provide a spacious and livable space at camp.

Sleeping & Interior Space

Inside, the Earth Camper features a queen-sized bed with a high-density 6-inch foam mattress for comfortable sleep after long days on the trail. The interior provides up to 37 inches of headroom from the mattress to the ceiling, offering enough space to sit upright, read, or relax without feeling confined.

The Earth Camper includes:

  • Dual Sirocco 3-speed fans with 360° directional capability
  • Blackout curtains and flyscreens
  • Tinted and tempered glass windows with gas strut assist and two-stage opening
  • Ambient roof lighting and dimmable living room lighting
  • Bedside reading lamps
  • USB-C charging points at the bedside
  • Multiple 120V outlets and USB charge points

Another major feature is the built-in flip-out table that provides additional interior surface space. It’s useful for meal prep, playing cards, organizing gear, or just having a spot to set things down without heading outside.

ARB Slide Kitchen & Water Systems

Camp cooking is central to long overland trips, so the Earth Camper incorporates ARB’s Slide Kitchen as a standard feature. The Slide Kitchen is a patented, full-size, freestanding stainless steel cooking system that provides a generous bench space while maintaining access to the dual-zone fridge.

The kitchen includes:

  • Dometic two-burner propane cooktop
  • Integrated wind deflector
  • Stainless steel sink with tap
  • Slide-out pantry storage tray
  • Spacious cutlery drawer
  • Full-extension fridge slide with cable run
  • LED pantry lighting with dimming and color selection
  • USB and 110V power outlets in the pantry zone

A 103-quart ARB ZERO dual-zone fridge/freezer is included as standard. The dual-zone layout allows fresh and frozen food to be stored at once, reducing resupply stops and making extended travel more practical for families or longer trips.

Moving beyond the kitchen, the potable water system is built for off-grid use. It uses a single 39-gallon water tank, electric pump, and lockable propane mounts to support cooking, cleaning, and basic utilities off-grid, reducing resupply stops and making remote camping more convenient.

Storage Designed for Overlanding Equipment

Storage and organization are critical for extended travel, and the Earth Camper incorporates a range of dedicated storage zones for tools, recovery boards, food, clothing, and bulky adventure equipment.

Exterior & Roof Storage

On the outside, the Earth Camper uses a 1255 × 1455mm ARB BASE Rack for secure roof storage. The BASE Rack’s modular mounting system makes it easy to carry items like recovery boards, kayaks, additional solar panels, and off-road boxes for extra gear.

The exterior also features rear wet-storage lockers that give you a place to stash muddy or wet gear after a day on the trail, keeping the interior clean and organized. Dual jerry can mounts provide space for extra fuel or water, which is especially useful on longer routes with limited access to resupply.

The Earth Camper also includes roof-mounted storage for the ARB Awning and the optional Ensuite Room. At camp, the awning deploys to provide shade and shelter with LED ambient lighting, and the ensuite room provides additional privacy for changing or shower setups.

Front Boot & Interior Storage

Inside, storage is laid out to support both daily camp use and longer-term trips. The front boot offers a large enclosed storage space for items that are better kept outside of the sleeping area, such as tools, hoses, or camp accessories.

Because longer trips involve a lot of smaller items, the Earth Camper includes built-in storage and organization throughout the interior. These include:

  • Under-bed storage drawer with anti-rollback
  • Stackable soft storage bags
  • Four overhead pockets
  • Bedhead cargo organizer (10 pockets)
  • Bedside cargo organizers (two per side)
  • Side wall storage pockets (two per side)

The tailor-fit storage bags allow the interior spaces to be used more efficiently without wasted space, keeping items sorted and easy to access.

Off-Grid Power

Remote travel requires reliable power, and the Earth Camper’s system was built around that idea.

Electrical management is handled through a REDARC Alpha 50 Battery Management System paired with a 100Ah lithium battery as standard. The battery can be expanded to 300Ah for longer off-grid trips or higher accessory use.

Charging is sourced from multiple inputs: a 120W roof-mounted solar panel provides passive charging at camp, an external Anderson input supports portable solar, and DC-DC charging through an Anderson connection keeps the battery topped up while towing. This combination covers everyday needs such as refrigeration, lighting, device charging, and camp accessories without relying on hookups or generators.

Additional Electrical Features

  • Provision for REDARC RS3 inverters (1200W / 2000W)
  • Dual internal 110V GPO outlets
  • External 110V / 15A mains inlet
  • Anderson solar input (external)
  • Pantry 12V power (cig + USB)
  • Bedside USB-C outlets
  • Additional USB outlets throughout
  • Dual-temperature dimmable gullwing lighting
  • Automatic front-storage sensor lighting
  • IP68-rated tail/brake indicator lights
  • Side clearance lighting
  • 7-pin trailer socket

Push-Button Rear Door

The Earth Camper also incorporates a push-button, electronically actuated rear door. Entry to the sleeping area takes less than a minute, which is especially useful during rain, dust, or at the end of long travel days. When deployed at camp, this same door becomes the hard floor of the living area, improving usability during poor weather or muddy conditions.

For an off-road camper designed to operate beyond established campgrounds, this combination of charging options and quick shelter access makes day-to-day use significantly easier.
