This impressive 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport build belongs to a 32-year-old systems engineer from Costa Rica who works in the field of information security and cybersecurity. A lifelong automotive enthusiast, his passion for off-road vehicles was sparked in childhood specifically after seeing an ARB-equipped Chevy Suburban in the 1997 movie Dante’s Peak. From that moment on, David was drawn to the rugged functionality and adventure-ready look of vehicles outfitted with gear like snorkels, lights, and heavy-duty armor.
Living in Costa Rica offers no shortage of opportunity for adventure. With mountains, beaches, volcanoes, national parks, and countless trails—many of which become incredibly muddy during the rainy season—having a capable 4x4 is more than just a hobby, it's a way of life. David and his friends regularly explore these challenging terrains, and his Tacoma is fully outfitted to handle it all.
David's current build showcases a full suite of ARB accessories, including:
- BP-51 Suspension System – Tuned for both trail performance and daily comfort, this adjustable setup has proven ideal across varying terrain and speed conditions.
- ARB Summit Bumper – More than just protection, this bumper has saved the truck multiple times on the trail, provided a strong winch mounting platform, and integrated seamlessly with factory-style fog lights.
- Safari Snorkel – A vital piece of gear for river crossings, especially in areas like Tulín where water depth can be unpredictable.
- Side Rails & Steps – Essential for tight trails, these have prevented damage to side panels on numerous occasions.
- ARB Solis Lights – Powerful, reliable illumination for navigating dusty, foggy, or remote environments.
- Rear Recovery Point – Put to the test during several recoveries and proven invaluable.
Additional upgrades like an ARB Air Locker, Compressor, and Under Vehicle Protection (UVP) are in the pipeline, with future installs planned as other projects wrap up.
Before his Tacoma, he owned a Toyota Hilux Diesel also outfitted with armor and accessories, but building a Tacoma with ARB gear had always been a goal. For him, it's not about adding accessories just for show—it’s about using high-quality, purpose-built gear that delivers on the trail. He credits JM Fabrications for helping install and integrate the components seamlessly.
In Costa Rica, Overlanding and 4x4 culture have grown rapidly over the past 10–15 years, and ARB has earned a strong reputation among the community. Whether navigating jungle trails or cruising the coastline, this Tacoma is a reliable and capable companion, engineered for the journey ahead.
